The City Green Plan establishes a framework for achieving environmental leadership with the adoption of a City green image, the identification of environmental themes, a range of action steps, and a method for annual monitoring. By using this plan, the City will implement programs and policies regarding sustainable growth. The plan addresses both community-wide programs and government operations.

Like many communities, Coconut Creek experiences the impacts of more frequent and severe climate threats such as stronger hurricanes, more severe rainfall events, and extreme heatwaves. It is imperative that the City invest in climate resilience by identifying potential risks to future events while investing in improvements to minimize disruption to critical assets and services.
