National Nutrition Month

March is National Nutrition Month® — a time to focus on making informed food choices and developing healthy eating habits that last a lifetime.

Established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, this annual campaign encourages individuals and families to prioritize balanced nutrition and overall wellness.

Why Nutrition Matters

  • Supporting immune health
  • Improving energy and focus
  • Promoting healthy growth and development
  • Reducing the risk of chronic diseases

Small, consistent changes can make a big difference in how we feel each day.

Simple Ways to Celebrate

Eat a Variety of Foods

Fill your plate with fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Aim to “eat the rainbow” by choosing colorful produce.

Plan Balanced Meals (MyPlate Method)

  • Half your plate: Fruits and vegetables
  • One quarter: Lean protein
  • One quarter: Whole grains
  • Add a serving of dairy or fortified alternative

Stay Hydrated

Water supports digestion, circulation, and energy levels. Carry a reusable water bottle as a reminder to sip throughout the day.

Practice Mindful Eating

Slow down and pay attention to hunger and fullness cues. Eating without distractions can help improve satisfaction and prevent overeating.

Get the Whole Family Involved

Invite children to help with meal planning, grocery shopping, or cooking. Hands-on involvement encourages healthier choices and builds lifelong skills.

Make Nutrition a Year-Round Goal

National Nutrition Month is a great reminder that healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated.

Focus on progress, not perfection. Small, sustainable changes lead to long-term success.
