The Jury Scam striking again is the basis for this Coconut Creek Police Department Scam Alert. A local woman recently called us after the scammers got her. A fraudster called claiming to be a law enforcement officer. He told her she had missed jury duty and faced arrest unless she paid a fine. He told her to put several hundred dollars in a Bitcoin machine, which she did. She eventually figured it out, but it was too late. If you get a similar call, remember that no law enforcement officer would threaten you over the phone with arrest, and then send you to a Bitcoin machine to pay a "fine." Just hang up.
