Officers arresting a man after he tried to steal a brand-new TV from a teenager is the basis for this Coconut Creek Police Department Arrest Alert.

Officers arrested Torvis Skinner, age 38, on January 17^th after he tried to forcibly take a new TV from a 16-year-old boy in the 5500 block of Wiles Road. The boy had just bought the 24-inch TV and was walking down Wiles when Skinner tried to steal it. He hit the teen several times. Skinner didn’t end up taking the TV but did take the teen’s hat.

Officers found him wearing the hat at the intersection of Wiles and State Road 7. He was arrested and charged with robbery, child abuse, and probation violation. He was even wearing an ankle monitor. Skinner went to the Broward County Jail. The teen was not seriously hurt.
