Rules and Regulations

  1. The City may remove any dog owner/handler, guest, or dog that causes a disturbance, violates the Windmill Dog Park Rules and Regulations, or ordinances of the City, or laws of the State of Florida; or poses a risk to the health, safety, or welfare of persons, animals, or property on the premises. The City and its officials or employees will not be liable for any damages incurred as a result of such removal.
  2. While on the premises, all dog owners/handlers must conduct themselves in a respectful, civil, and orderly manner. They must not harass other patrons, engage in vulgar or obscene behavior or language, or interfere with City staff in the enforcement the Dog Park.
  3. Dog owners/handlers use the Dog Park at their own risk and will be responsible for any injury or damage caused by their dog(s). If a dog injures another person, animal, or property, the owner/handler must provide their contact information to the affected party before leaving.
  4. Dog owner/handlers are prohibited from using their gate pass to allow another person, dog, or dog owner/handler into the Dog Park.
  5. Dog owner/handler must have identification and member key fob with them at all times while at the Dog Park. City staff may request to see Dog Park member’s key fob(s) and/or identification at any time.
  6. Only dogs wearing a collar are permitted in the Dog Park area; no other animals are allowed.
  7. The Dog Park is divided into separate designated fenced areas. There is a designated area for all dogs under 30 lbs.; these dogs must use and remain in the Small Dog Area. There is another designated area for all dogs 30 lbs. and over; these dogs must use and remain in the Large Dog Area. This separation is required for safety, as unintentional but serious injuries can occur when small and large dogs interact in the wrong designated area.
  8. Dog owner/handlers must be at least 18 years or older to be in the Dog Park area. Children between the ages of 6–12 must remain closely supervised by an adult at all times. For safety, infants, toddlers, and small children are strictly prohibited inside the off-leash dog area.
  9. All dogs must be leashed until safely inside the Dog Park and returned to a leash prior to exiting the Dog Park.
  10. Maximum of three (3) dogs per handler and per household membership.
  11. Professional or commercial training is prohibited in Dog Park unless otherwise permitted by the City.
  12. Puppies less than four (4) months old, aggressive, sick or injured dogs, and female dogs in heat are strictly prohibited inside the Dog Park.
  13. Dog owner/handler must clean up after their dog(s) and use proper disposal containers provided.
  14. Alcoholic beverages, food (human or dog), and smoking are strictly prohibited, however, small bite-sized training treats are permitted.
  15. Recreational equipment is not permitted. Personal toys, balls, frisbees, or similar items are prohibited inside the off-leash area.
  16. Running or rough play by humans is prohibited inside the Dog Park. Fast movement can excite or trigger chasing behavior in dogs and may lead to unintended injuries
  17. The Dog Park is unsupervised and self-directed. However, if assistance is needed, please call the Parks & Recreation Department at 954-448-3319 or 954-545-6670. If immediate or life threating assistance is needed, please call 911.
  18. In the event that a dog owner/handler violates any of the rules or regulations set forth herein, the City reserves the right to refuse the dog owner’s/handler’s future access to the Dog Park and may automatically terminate their Windmill Dog Park Annual Membership without refund or any penalty to the City.
  1. The City reserves the right to eject any dog owner/handler, guest or dog causing a disturbance, or violating the Windmill Dog Park Rules and Regulations or ordinances of the City or laws of the State of Florida, or whose conduct presents a risk to the health, safety or welfare of other persons, animals, and/or property on the premises, and neither the City or any of its officials or employees shall be liable to the dog owner/handler for any damages that may be sustained as a result.
  2. While on the premises, all dog owners/handlers shall conduct themselves in a respectful, civil and orderly fashion and shall not harass other patrons or commit vulgar acts or use obscene language, and shall not impede City staff in their responsibility to enforce the rules of the Dog Park.
  3. Dog owners/handlers shall use the Dog Park at their own risk. Dog owners/handlers are responsible and liable for any injury or damage caused by their dog(s). If a dog inflicts an injury, Dog owner/handler must provide contact information to the other dog owner/handler before leaving.
  4. Dog owner/handler must never use their gate pass to allow another person, dog, or dog owner/handler into the Dog Park.
  5. Dog owner/handler must have identification and member key fob with them at all times while at the park. City staff reserves the right to ask to see Dog Park member’s key fob(s) and/or identification.
  6. No animals other than dogs may be brought into the Dog Park area.
  7. Dog owner/handler must be age 18 or older to be allowed in the Dog Park area. Children accompanying dog owners/handlers must be strictly supervised by an adult.
  8. All dogs must be leashed until safely inside the Dog Park and returned to a leash prior to exiting.
  9. Maximum of three (3) dogs per handler and per household membership.
  10. Professional or commercial training is prohibited in the Dog Park unless permitted by the City.

Resident Fee$35.00/per year
Includes first dog only.
Additional dogs are $15 extra.
 $25.00/annual renewal with fob
Resident Additional Dog$15.00/per dog, per year.
Non-resident Fee$70.00/per year
Includes first dog only.
Additional dogs are $30 extra.
 $60.00/annual renewal with fob.
Non-resident Additional Dog$30.00/per dog, per year.
